On-line Credit Card Payment Process

DEBTOR CREDIT CARDS ARE NOT ACCEPTED

IF YOUR PAYMENT IS DECLINED, DO NOT CALL THE COURT.
Contact the card-issuing bank to determine why the card was declined.

How it works

You can use a credit card to pay a filing fee each time you e-file or pay accumulated filing fees at the end of the day. After e-filing a document with a filing fee, a pop-up credit card payment window appears on the screen overlaying the CM/ECF Notice of Electronic Filing. This screen shows the new filing fee charge and any other outstanding filing fees. You must click Pay Now or Continue Filing.

(NOTE: Sometimes the pop-up credit card payment window will be hidden behind the Notice of Electronic Filing screen. Look on the task bar at the bottom of your screen and click the correct button to correctly display the pop-up credit card payment window. If the pop-up credit card payment window does not appear at all, it may because you are using pop-up "blocker" software. This software must be disabled before the CM/ECF pop-up credit card payment window will appear.)

Pay Now

If you click Pay Now, you are connected to the U.S. Treasury site and prompted for Type of Card (i.e. Visa), Card Number, and Card Expiration Date. (NOTE: The system does not retain your credit card account information. The Court accepts American Express, Discover, Diner's Club, VISA credit and debit cards and MasterCard.) After entering this information, click Submit Payment to process the payment. If the transaction is approved, you receive a transaction completion message showing the amount of the transaction and the transaction number. (NOTE: If you are using the Internet Explorer browser and want to print this screen, right click with your cursor inside the screen and select the Print option.)

If you enter an invalid credit card number, the following message appears: The credit card you have entered is invalid. Please check the number and try again. If you make three consecutive errors in data entry, the following messages appears: We are unable to complete your transaction. Try using the Internet Fees Due Report to pay your fees.

Continue Filing

Selecting Continue Filing allows you to continue e-filing. The current filing fee is accumulated with any other unpaid filing fees. This way you can pay all filing fees accumulated for a given day at one time. (NOTE: All accumulated filing fees should be paid on the same day as the fee was incurred. The court monitors prompt payment of fees. If payment is not received timely, the court will charge your credit card that is on file or your filing will be presented to the Judge for dismissal and /or you will possibly be prevented from further e-filing until the fee is paid.)

If you select "Continue Filing", every time you e-file a pop-up credit card payment window appears overlaying the CM/ECF Notice of Electronic Filing screen. The screen shows all of the outstanding filing fees you owe. This continues until you pay the filing fee. Just click the Pay Now option and proceed as instructed above.

Deferred/Exempt/Installment Fees & Duplicate Filings

DO NOT PAY ANYTHING UNTIL THE COURT REMOVES THE INAPPROPRIATE FEE CHARGE.

If you are deferring a filing fee, are exempt from paying a filing fee, your client is paying a filing fee in installments, or you have made a duplicate filing, click Continue Filing when the pop-up credit card payment window appears. Immediately contact an intake deputy at the appropriate divisional office. The intake deputy will review your e-filing and, if necessary, remove the charge from the fees due screen. You can then use the Internet Fees Due Report to pay any remaining fees.

Internet Fees Due Report

You can pay accumulated filing fees at any time by running the Internet Payments Due Report which is under the UTILITIES selection. This allows you to review and pay all accumulated fees without having to e-file another document. If you don't have any accumulated filing fee charges the message There are currently no outstanding charges appears.

Internet Payment History

The Internet Payment History report which is also under the UTILITIES section allows you to review your credit payments over any specified period of time. We recommend that you run this report after any e-filing that requires a filing fee. If you catch any errors (such as duplicate filings) that you have already charged to your credit card, let us know the same business day of the e-filing. We can usually fix the problem and you can avoid having to pay duplicate charges. If you suspect a payment is incorrect or a refund is due, immediately contact the appropriate divisional Deputy in Charge
